A price drop alert with a room attached
Most hotel price alerts are property alerts: they fire when any room at the hotel gets cheaper, which in practice means the entry category. If what you want is the club room or the villa, that alert is about someone else’s booking.
A Fermata alert is armed for one room category, one set of nights, one number. It fires when the publicly bookable rate for that exact room reaches the target you set, and it says so in plain words: the hotel, the room, the rate. Nothing else rides along.
Because the alert sits on top of the room’s own record, you can also set the target sensibly. The history shows what the room typically asks and how low it has actually gone, so your number is a judgement about evidence, not a wish.
How the alert behaves
Every tracked room is checked nightly, and the alert compares each fresh rate with your target. The first time the rate is at or under your number, you get the email. If the rate then climbs back above your target and later falls to it again, the alert re-arms and fires again, so a brief spike does not cost you the drop that follows it.
When your stay date passes, the tracker retires itself and sends a short wrap-up of what the room did while you watched it. No zombie alerts, no unsubscribing from your own trip.
And if the room never reaches your number, you have still lost nothing: the record kept accumulating, and you can book at any point with the full history in front of you.
