A nightly rate index for all 17 tracked Langham hotels, from London to Xiamen, built on 13,751 nightly price observations. What a night typically costs.

A hotel group's own website quotes you one rate, for one set of dates, on the day you look. That is a single frame of a moving picture. We track every Langham property's rooms every night, so instead of one quote we can show the whole group at once: what a night typically costs at each of the 17 Langham hotels we follow, side by side. The numbers below are not asking prices or teasers. They are the median of our own forward observations, in US dollars, for two adults, before local taxes and fees.

What "typical" means here

For each hotel we watch a grid of future stay dates, re-checking each one every few nights. The figure in the table is the median across that forward year: the rate a night lands at more often than any other, with the peaks and the troughs balancing out. It is deliberately the median, not the average, because a handful of peak-season dates pull an average upward and make a hotel look pricier than it usually is.

Across the 17 hotels, the index rests on 13,751 nightly price observations.

What the group looks like when you line it up

The first thing the index shows is that "a Langham" does not mean a price. The most expensive tracked Langham, in London, typically runs about fourteen times the least expensive, in Xiamen. That is not a quality gap. It is the difference between a Mayfair address and a regional Chinese business hotel wearing the same brand.

The Langham Hong Kong, typically $529 a night. The same brand spans $144 in Xiamen to $2,023 in London.

Read down the column and the tiers separate cleanly. London sits alone at the top. The three North American flagships, New York, Boston, and Chicago, cluster between roughly $900 and $1,300. The Australian trio, Sydney, the Gold Coast, and Melbourne, hold a band around $600 to $700. Then a long tail of mainland China properties, most of them Langham Place, sits under $320 and reaches down to under $150.

That tail is worth pausing on. Guangzhou at $169 rests on 449 observations and Shanghai at $412 on 1,104, so the low numbers are not thin data or a fluke. They are simply what a five-star night costs in those markets. A traveler who knows the London rate and assumes the brand is uniformly expensive is leaving a great deal of value unexamined.

A group median is a starting point, not an answer

Here is the important limit of a table like this. The typical night tells you where a hotel sits relative to its siblings. It does not tell you the best week to go, and it does not tell you whether today's quote is fair.

Both of those questions move more money than the brand-level number does. We looked at this closely for another chain and found that at the median property the priciest month cost 68 percent more than the cheapest, while booking earlier or later barely moved the rate at all. The full analysis is in when to book a Park Hyatt, and the lesson carries over: choose the month before you worry about anything else.

The second limit is the room itself. Every figure above is a whole-hotel median that folds every room category together. The gap between an entry king and a signature suite at the same Langham is often wider than the gap between two different Langham hotels. If you intend to book the suite, the group median is the wrong number to watch, and so is the property's cheapest available room. Track the room you actually want.

Reading a Langham by region

The group splits by geography, and each region has its own rhythm. Our destination pages fold many hotels into one seasonal view, which is the level to think at when the city is still open and only the brand is fixed: the mainland China tail on the China page, the flagships within United States and United Kingdom, and the Australia three.

How to use this

Pick the Langham you are considering, open its page, and read its forward curve. The curve shows what the same room costs across the next year of stay dates, so you can see where that hotel's cheap weeks fall rather than guessing from the group. The typical night in the table is the anchor for a target: if a hotel usually runs $600 and you are quoted $850, you know the quote is high for the property, not just high in the abstract, and if you see $520 you know that is a number worth acting on.

Frequently asked questions

Are these the cheapest rates at each Langham? No. They are the median typical night across a forward year of dates, which is a more honest anchor than a "from" price. The cheapest week at any given hotel sits below its number here, and its peak sits well above it.

Why is Langham in China so much cheaper than Langham in London? Because a five-star night simply costs less in Guangzhou or Xiamen than in Mayfair. The brand is shared; the market is not. The China figures rest on hundreds to over a thousand observations each, so they are real, not artifacts of thin data.

Do these include taxes and the member rate? No. The figures are before local taxes and fees, and they reflect the public, signed-out rate. If you hold status with the group, the rate you see when logged in may run slightly lower. The index refreshes as the hotels re-price, which is why we track rather than publish a fixed list once.

Watch the Langham you want

A rate index is useful for placing a hotel. It is not a substitute for watching the one room, on the dates you can travel, that you would actually book. Open any hotel above, read its forward curve, set a target on the exact room, and get an email when the rate reaches it. For the level above a single hotel, our per-market rate reports and the methodology behind them explain how these numbers are built.
